This very rare limited-edition release honours the rum
used in the original Mai Tai in 1944 - the iconic
J. Wray & Nephew 17 Year Old.
Using archival manuscripts and decades of blending
experience, Master Blender Dr. Joy Spence has re-created
the profile of the historic 17 Year Old. Using four very rare
100% pot still distillates that were set aside to rest on the
Appleton Estate in only 10 casks, 1,500 bottles were produced
globally, never to be re-created again.
The limited edition minimum aged 50 Year Old
honours the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence
- in fact, the rums in this blend were specifically set down
to age to celebrate this important occasion.
With its powerful oak bouquet infused with rich vanilla and
layered with cinnamon, maple and orange peel, this unique rum
finishes exceptionally smooth with a honeyed oak finish.
Appleton Estate’s Joy Anniversary Blend is a beautifully
complex and elegant rum celebrating Joy Spence’s 20th
Anniversary as Master Blender.
This 25-year minimum aged rum opens with a delicate
orange peel top note, intertwined with ginger and spice,
finishing with aromas of vanilla, butterscotch,
coffee and layers of almond.
